Phase 1:
The Foundations for Change Project Phase 1 developed a co-designed framework for an inclusive workplace using the social model of disability as the standard. This was developed with workplaces in Greater Manchester’s health, social care, and locality sectors. The project aimed to understand the employment status, career progression, retention, support, and barriers faced by disabled staff.
This project was a collaboration between Breakthrough UK, the Greater Manchester Coalition of Disabled People, the Greater Manchester Disabled People’s Panel, the Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership, localities across Greater Manchester, The University of Manchester, disabled staff, and managers.
Phase 2:
Phase 2 of the project focused on the methods used to implement the Framework and worked closely with various areas of GMICP poviding training, coaching and renewal of the workplace adjustments process. This provided a breadth of learning available in our Phase 2 report.
Phase 3 is currently underway and focuses on the patient experience. If you are interested in knowing more or being involved, please contact k.ollerenshaw@breakthrough-uk.co.uk
