\nfrom Disabled People\u2019s <\/b>Organisations and Allies
\n– February 2021<\/b><\/p>\n
Coronavirus has hit disabled people hard. 60% of deaths from
\ncoronavirus have been those of Disabled People.<\/p>\n
Disabled People have struggled to access healthcare, social
\ncare and food and many have been left without the \u00a320 weekly uplift given to
\nthose on Universal Credit.<\/p>\n
We ask Government and the NHS to recognise the enormous
\nimpact of coronavirus on the lives of Disabled People. <\/p>\n
We urge Government and NHS to respond more urgently to
\nprotect disabled people from coronavirus.<\/p>\n
We ask that the needs of Disabled People are met in more
\npersonalised and accessible ways.<\/p>\n
In particular, we urge that action be taken to ensure that:<\/p>\n

\nThe letter to 1.7 million new shielders and 2.2
\nmillion existing shielders is sent in plain English and accessible formats and
\nthat sources of information and support are provided both digitally and
\nnon-digitally.<\/p>\n

\nEveryone who has a learning disability, autistic people or people who have a cognitive impairment is included in priority group 6, to
\nensure early vaccination.<\/p>\n

\nDisabled People of working age living in
\nresidential accommodation or hospitals are included in priority group 6, to
\nensure early vaccination.<\/p>\n

\nDisabled People know that they can contact their
\ndoctor for advice on whether they should be included in priority vaccination group
\n6.<\/p>\n
\u00b7
\nEveryone with a learning disability, autistic people or people with a cognitive impairment has their health records checked, to ensure
\nthat any wrongful Do Not Attempt Resuscitation Notices are removed.<\/p>\n
